Sample offer
An online store
built around one flagship product
The scope of work for a WordPress and WooCommerce store with a flagship product - premium look, fast, solidly built, with no dead weight.
- WordPress
- WooCommerce
- Gutenberg blocks
- WPML
This is an example, not a price list
This is what my offers look like when they are broken down into stages. I publish one so you can see what actually hides behind the words “online store”, and what a quote you can genuinely read looks like. No store orders this scope one to one: the amount comes out of a conversation about your project, not out of a table.
How I work
A few things worth knowing before we start:
No page builder
My quotes run slightly higher, and in exchange you get a genuinely well built product - without a thousand options you will never use, and without the overhead that slows a store down.
Native WordPress
I build on Gutenberg blocks, with no add-on layers on top. That makes the store more stable, faster and harder to attack.
Proven solutions
The key mechanisms in this offer - the review system with automatic coupons among them - are already tested in live cosmetics stores. I deploy an improved version of them rather than building from scratch.
Detailed scope of work
Below is the scope of a complete build - from the custom theme, through a block library you use to assemble new pages yourself, to the store and the tailor-made features. The quote is prepared individually, as a single amount for the whole project. What moves that amount up and down is covered in section four.
- 01
Foundation - a custom theme
- A theme built from scratch, with no page builder and no off-the-shelf template - the code contains only what the store actually uses
- A global style system (theme.json): color palette, typography and spacing defined in one place, consistent on the site and inside the content editor
- Fully responsive - desktop, tablet, phone
- Speed work: lean code, loading only the assets a page needs, strong Google PageSpeed results
- Pages included: home, about the brand, contact, and the information pages (shipping, payments, terms, privacy policy)
- 02
A library of 20 custom Gutenberg blocks
The heart of the build. Every section of the site is a native Gutenberg block - built once, it can be used on any page, in any order, any number of times. You assemble new pages yourself, like building with bricks, with no developer involved - and every block looks in the editor exactly the way it looks on the site.
- Hero - opening section with a large photo or graphic, a headline and a call to action
- Text + image - alternating layouts (image left or right) for telling the story of the brand and the product
- Icon highlights - a grid of 3-4 brand strengths (ingredients, quality, fast shipping)
- Benefit bar - a slim bar carrying the store's key promises (free shipping over X, easy returns, secure payments)
- Ingredients / product features - the formula or the feature set presented with descriptions
- Photo gallery - a slider of product and lifestyle photography
- Video section - a film embedded in a frame consistent with the rest of the site
- How to use - numbered steps of the product instructions
- Before / after - a comparison showing the results of using the product
- Customer reviews grid - a block that pulls approved reviews from the store automatically and lays them out in a grid
- Review carousel - a lighter form of reviews as a scrollable slider with star ratings, droppable onto any page
- Featured review - a single large customer quote as a strong selling accent between sections
- Brand numbers - a statistics section that builds trust (units sold, happy customers, years on the market)
- FAQ - questions and answers as their own content type in the admin: a question is added once and picked into a block on any page; the block generates schema.org structured data (FAQPage) automatically, so the questions can surface directly in Google results
- Comparison table - the product against alternatives, or a comparison of variants
- Instagram / social section - a profile teaser with photo tiles and a follow link
- CTA banner - a bar with a line of copy and a button leading to the purchase
- Product block - a mini product card with price and an “add to cart” button, embeddable on any page
- Newsletter signup - a signup form wired into your email marketing tool
- Contact form - a form with spam protection, visually consistent with the rest of the store
- 03
The WooCommerce store
- A product page built like a landing page - gallery, description sections, brand highlights; with a flagship product this is the page that sells
- A slide-out side cart - adding to the cart without leaving the page
- Checkout with the option to enter company invoicing details (VAT ID)
- Payment and shipping methods configured
- Transactional emails in the store's branding, sent from your own domain with the sender records set up correctly (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) - they land in the inbox, not in spam
- 04
Tailor-made features
- Gift wrapping - gift extras selected during purchase, with a card and a personal message written by the customer
- Review system: a few days after the purchase the customer receives an email with a personal review link; reviews are moderated, and once approved the customer automatically receives a one-time discount coupon (for example -10%)
- Language versions of the store on WPML - the license is included in the offer
- Waiting list - when a product sells out, the customer leaves an address and gets notified when it is back in stock
- Help with the visual design, or design work based on an agreed direction
- 05
Legal compliance and initial analytics
- Omnibus Directive - correct price history display on promotions
- Withdrawal button compliant with EU Directive 2023/2673
- GDPR and a cookie banner with Consent Mode v2
- Initial analytics: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4 and Search Console configured - from day one you can see where customers come from and what they do in the store
What the quote does not cover
To be agreed, or on your side:
- Hosting and domain - I am happy to help pick and configure them
- Content: marketing copy, product descriptions, photography and the product shoot
- Translating content into other languages - loading the translations in is on my side
- Any paid plugin licenses other than WPML (annual cost)
- Running ad campaigns and marketing activity
- Ongoing technical care after launch - agreed separately
What drives the price
The same scope can cost noticeably different amounts in two different stores - and not because the quote is made up on the spot. Here is what actually moves the number of hours in each direction.
What pushes the quote up, and what pulls it down
The scope in section two is the starting point. From it comes a version fitted to one specific store - and only that version carries a price.
Pushes the quote up
- The number of custom blocks. Every block is a design, code and its own editor view - twenty blocks is a different project than eight
- External integrations. ERP, warehouse systems, couriers, email marketing - each comes with its own documentation and its own surprises
- Language versions. WPML, translating the interface and the content layouts, testing each version separately
- Tailor-made logic. A configurator, a calculator or a review system with coupons all need a conversation about the rules before the first line of code exists
- Visual design from scratch rather than building from finished mockups
- Migrating an existing store. Moving products, orders and customers, redirects, and holding your Google rankings
Pulls the quote down
- All content and photography ready on day one. The most common cause of delays is waiting for material, not for code
- One decision maker on your side and quick sign-offs between stages
- A smaller block library to start with. A block added later to a finished system costs a fraction of the first one
- One language to begin with, with the theme prepared for more to be added later
- Standard payments and shipping instead of unusual integrations
- Phasing. Some tailor-made features can wait until the store is selling and can finance them itself
That is why there is no single amount here. An honest quote comes out of a conversation about one specific store - and broken into stages it lets you see exactly what you are paying for and what can be taken out.
